Formula

The sustained rate of fire (RPM) is calculated using the following formula:

\[\mathrm{RPM} = \frac{60 \times {\color{red}{L}}} {\left({\color{red}{L}} - 1\right) \times {\color{lime}{R_s}} + {\color{cyan}{R_v}}}\]

Where:

  • $\color{red}{L}$ = Shot Length (number of rounds fired in the salvo)
  • $\color{lime}{R_s}$ = Shot Reload (seconds between individual shots)
  • $\color{cyan}{R_v}$ = Salvo Reload (seconds before the next salvo begins)

The denominator represents the total time required to complete one firing cycle. Multiplying the number of rounds fired by 60 converts the result into rounds per minute (RPM).
